Plants, the free remedy to water them even outside the home: they will all survive when you return

Anyone who has many plants of various types at home, both those with a green finger and those without. Having plants at home makes you happy, and they furnish both indoor and outdoor environments very well.

Holiday Dried Plants

Sooner or later, however, the time comes to go on vacation, this causes a lot of concern, because even when you are away from home, they need water, so they should be watered at least once every two days.

This usually causes a lot of confusion, because you don’t want to ask your neighbors or family members for help. Unfortunately, however, there is no other solution: alternatively, there is a risk of finding them dead when they return.

Methods for watering plants even if you’re not physically present: the saucer

Even so, not many people know that there are several methods that allow you to water plants and give them a certain autonomy of 7 to 15 days and in some cases even more. These methods make it possible to meet the water requirement of any type of plant. One of the many requires the use of the saucer.

Not only does this serve to collect excess water on plants, it can also be used to provide them with the water they need for several days when you’re not home. The only thing to keep in mind is that the plate is wider than the vase, to contain a lot of water and to be able to water the plants for as long as necessary. In fact, the plant itself will take water, when it needs it, without overdoing it.

Cord Method

Another little-known method, useful for plugging holes for an extended period not exceeding 15 days, which allows you to water even more plants at the same time is the cord method. What you need to do is get a cotton yarn, put one end in a bucket that has a lot of water inside and the other end in the soil.

You make a hole with your fingers and insert the rope several centimeters into the ground. If you want to water multiple plants at the same time, simply group them next to the bucket and use string for each seedling. The home-grown water system, a DIY method, will be able to water the plants for several days and make them come back without any suffering.

Alternatively, mini greenhouses can be created, to retain moisture as well. This can be done by covering the plants with plastic bags, this system is especially valid for smaller seedlings that are at risk of dying.

Greenhouses at home, here’s how

To reproduce small greenhouses at home, just insert small pieces of wood into the soil and place bags on the plant as long as they do not touch the leaves, otherwise the plant will dry out.

Then, you have to leave it with moist soil and obviously away from the sun’s rays that could kill it. All plants in these conditions need a lot of light, as this ensures the greenhouse effect.

Bottle Method

Finally, there is the bottle method. You need a bottle, which needs to be drilled at the bottom, just three holes are enough. The bottle is then inserted into the ground, making space with your hands: the bottom goes into the ground while the cap goes up. The bottle should be filled with water, then the cap should be closed again. Finally, a small hole is made on it to avoid the opposite effect to the desired one.

Drop by drop, the water will slowly descend to the ground, so the plant will be hydrated for days, without any risk. Obviously before leaving it is necessary to water the plant, and then use the bottle method only in the following days.
