A truly unmistakable aroma: we are talking about rosemary, one of the most loved and widespread aromatic plants.
It is usually kept in a pot on the balcony or on the windowsill, from where it intoxicates the entire domestic environment with its smell.
But it happens that our rosemary, over time, loses its natural aroma, assuming a weaker smell or, in some cases, losing it completely.
What to do in these cases?
Usually, rosemary gives off its beautiful aroma when the seedling is fresh and cheerful.
Here, then, are the secrets to keeping it always lush and more fragrant than ever!
Attention: if you have doubts or perplexities, ask your trusted florist or gardener for advice.

Water properly
A correct amount of water is essential to ensure healthy and fragrant leaves .
Water when the soil is dry: in summer, more frequently; in winter, very rarely.
In addition, avoid wetting branches and leaves during watering: this, in fact, could favor the appearance of diseases or molds.
Take care of the soil
The soil where you plant your rosemary is very important for the plant to remain lush and fragrant.
In general, this aromatic seedling adapts to any type of soil. However, he greatly prefers alkaline ones .
Also, don’t forget that well-drained soil is essential to avoid waterlogging and prevent roots from rotting.
To avoid them, you can place pebbles at the bottom of the vase to promote drainage.
Keep in the sun
Place your seedling in a very bright place : rosemary, in fact, needs sunlight to remain fragrant and healthy.
If you keep it on a windowsill, choose one that preferably faces south.
If the twigs start to thin too much and the leaves dry out, immediately place them in a brighter place .
Protect it in winter
Is the cold coming? Keep this seedling away from frost.
However, hardy, in fact, rosemary does not like temperatures that are too cold.
If you keep it on the balcony, you should bring this plant indoors in winter.
If you can’t, cover it with protective fabrics from the frost of the night.
Keep it warm
This plant resists low temperatures well , but gives its best when it is hot.
Keep it, if possible, at a temperature above 20 °C.
When, on the other hand, it is below 15 °C, even if it is healthy, rosemary could lose the well-being that allows it to maintain its pleasant aroma.
Prune it once a year.
Pruning rosemary does not weaken the plant, on the contrary!
After the flowering period , once a year, prune this plant by removing the branches at the base.
In this way, not only is an orderly appearance of the plant favored , but also its subsequent development, necessary for it to maintain its beautiful perfume.
Protect it from parasites
Rosemary is an extremely hardy plant , but it turns out that it is attacked by some pests.
Among these, the most widespread are surely the Eupteryx decemnotata or the American Chrysomela.
Obviously, it is more plausible that rosemary will be attacked if it is kept on the balcony.
However, protecting it is very easy.
Just use a few drops of Neem oil. The effect will be twofold: in fact, this oil will keep parasites away and amplify the smell of the seedling.
