Rosemary is one of the most widely used aromatic plants in cooking, but it also offers many health benefits and is an ideal ingredient for preparing infusions, oils and tinctures .
Precisely because of its usefulness, rosemary is an ingredient that we should always have available at home. What better way to grow rosemary than from a sprig ? We explain how to do it below.
Propagating rosemary is very simple and we can do it starting with a sprig of this plant, a little water and a few very simple steps.
Another advantage is that rosemary can also be propagated by cuttings , that is, by a strong and healthy fragment of a plant.
Carrying out this process at home is very simple and we explain it to you step by step:
- Cut 15 centimeters diagonally from a rosemary sprig and remove the leaves at the base.
- Fill a glass with water and place the twig in it. Let it soak overnight.
- Place the glass with the plant near a window, in an area of the house that is not very cold.
- If you notice that water evaporates during the process, add a little room temperature water.
- A week later the first roots will have formed.
- When the roots are well formed (about three weeks later), the rosemary is ready to be placed in a pot with potting soil.
- Put some fertilizer along with the soil, make a hole in the center and insert the twig.
- During the first week, water every two or three days. Remember that rosemary suffers from overwatering.
Now that you know how to propagate rosemary from a twig , you can immediately start growing a leafy plant in the shortest time possible.
