Until recently, the classic bars of soap that you can find in the supermarket were the only option for washing clothes strictly by hand. Over time and with the arrival of new technologies, such as washing machines, their use has been decreasing more and more, but they have not disappeared completely.
There are still those who use soap bars, especially Marseille soap, as they are more effective in treating localized stains. In this article we will explain how to convert a bar of soap into 3 liters of liquid detergent .
Liquid detergent is not only recommended to protect your hands, but also to avoid leaving residues on your clothes and because it is more convenient and versatile to use in the washing machine. It has one drawback: the cost, which is sometimes very high.
You need :
- 1 bar of Marseille soap
- 120 ml white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- 3 liters of water
- kitchen grater
- clean bucket
Procedure :
- Grate the bar of soap into the bucket.
- Pour in a liter of water until the soap is completely covered and let it sit overnight.
- The next day, pour the contents of the bucket into a saucepan, add the other 2 litres of water and mix with a wooden spoon. Then add the 120 ml of white vinegar and 1 tablespoon of baking soda.
- As soon as it starts to boil, turn off the stove and wait 10 minutes.
- Let it cool for 20-30 minutes and then pour into the final container.
Use liquid detergent in the same way as industrial detergent. You will see that your clothes will be cleaner and more fragrant.
