These pretty flowers, whether you’re offering them or just looking at them, can be kept indefinitely. Growing this plant requires rigor and patience, even if you’re not a professional gardener. Grow your own orchids and avoid buying new ones.

It is possible to grow new orchids without replacing them

Flowering and cutting your orchids is easy as long as you have some knowledge of botany.  With simple gestures  , you can witness a new bloom of these pretty colorful flowers. Thanks to this technique, you can revive your orchid planted in the ground or in a pot.

These flowers, a symbol of fertility, are hardy plants that can be capricious when it comes to flowering! However, they are still easy to grow with a little method. Orchids are a widely distributed family with a population of almost 25,000 species.  The most commonly found in floristry   are the Phalaenopsis, which are distinguished by their thick petals.

The keiki: to grow new orchids

To avoid having to replace these pretty indoor plants, it is possible to make them bloom again. The secret to witness the growth of new leaves: the keiki. The latter is a seedling present on the stem of this flower that can be grown in a plastic pot. It allows the flowering of the orchid without pollinators.  If you do not observe any in your flower  , you can always cultivate them to observe a multiplication of buds.

How to grow this seedling present in the stems?

If you don’t see keiki after flowering, you can grow it alone. To do this, you will need to cut the stem just above the neck of the plant so that the seedling can be born. When you notice that it has reached 4 or 5 centimeters, you can repot an orchid to replant it in the same pot. For optimal plant growth, you will need to follow the plant care tips. Start by cutting   up to 5 centimeters of this piece of stem   and then planting it. To do this, the roots will need to be tilted downwards and lightly covered with soil. The flower stem should also be in the ground to encourage new growth. When you have successfully grown this seedling, you can place it in a separate pot from the initial orchid.

You can make your orchids bloom again with cuttings

You can witness the bud sprouting by cutting cuttings, i.e. pieces of your flowering plants. To start, you will need a waterproof tank 8 centimeters deep in which you will put sand or sphagnum moss to moisten. The first step is   to cut the stem 30 centimeters from the plant  using a sharp knife. Then, divide the latter into 7-centimeter pieces making sure that each section has a bud. Make sure to put the sand in the tray and place the pieces of the Phalaenopsis orchid or any other species in the container that you will cover with plastic. To restart the growth of this flower, place it away from the sun, ideally in a place at 15 degrees Celsius. After a few weeks, you can expose the plantation to a temperature of 24-30 degrees. You will need to water the plant sparingly every day. Once you have observed the shoots and roots, you can again cut pieces of the orchid. To multiply them, you will have to replant them in small containers in which you have put volcanic soil, Spagnum bark and moss on which a small amount of water has been poured. It will be necessary to repot the plant with the shoots facing upwards and the cuttings should be grown in a bright place out of the sun. To witness the growth of small flowers quickly, keep the orchid in a humid place. Watering should be daily but light so that the soil is fertile.
