How to make violets bloom

Even if you don’t have a green thumb, your violets, whether in pots or in the ground, can bloom profusely.

What are violets?

Violets are perennial flowering plants that can be grown both in pots and in the ground. Violets  are very decorative and do not require much care  , so much so that they can withstand even very harsh temperatures. However, they may not bloom as we would like.

To overcome this problem, here is a trick that promises great flowers for your plant.

How to make them bloom

The secret ingredient you will need is used consistently in all kitchens. These are eggs that, after being used for your homemade preparations, can be reused. In fact, to make your violets bloom, you will need  eggshells.

First, you’ll want to avoid throwing them away, place them under running water and then let them dry in the sun if possible. Alternatively, you can put them on a tray and put them in the oven for a quarter of an hour at 150 degrees. Once the eggshells are dry, you’ll need to crumble them. To do this, you can use your hands or the back of a spoon. The operation will have to be coarse as the eggshells will need to be passed through the blender.

The shell powder thus obtained will be used for your violets.  It will be an extremely beneficial compound because it has a high calcium content, essential for the development of plants.

However, before you put it on your violets, a little maintenance will be necessary. Specifically, you will need to cut off all the dried flowers and dried leaves. This happens often, especially after the plant has flowered. Only then will the violets be able to bloom again. If dried flowers and leaves remain on the plant for too long, they could prevent the birth of new shoots. The same goes for dried leaves. Leave the small, new leaves so that they can sprout faster.

Before placing the eggshells on the ground, the ground should be slightly stirred. This can be done with a spatula or, if it is a small vase, with kitchen scissors. However, it must be said that the vases must be changed frequently.

Using a spoon, pour the previously obtained eggshell powder  from above.  It should cover all the soil near the plant’s roots. You can also loosen the soil so that the powder reaches the bottom.

The next step is to water the plant. This operation must be repeated every night, to ensure the plant receives the calcium it needs. After a few weeks, you will see your violet bloom like never before.
