Garlic is one of the best plants to grow at home. It is really easy and cheap. You may not like the taste of it, but eating a head of garlic a day really does wonders for your body. Garlic is a simple food that offers powerful healing properties.
Garlic is rich in nitrogenous substances, sodium, potassium, selenium, calcium, magnesium, silicon, sulfur, phosphorus, vitamins C, D, B, phytosterols and essential oils.
It contains phytoncides, such as allicin, which are formed during the mechanical destruction of plants, meaning that garlic needs to be crushed or ground to get the most out of its benefits. Researchers believe that allicin has a powerful bacteriostatic effect that cures infections quickly. Garlic is packed with anti-fungal properties, making it more powerful than many antibiotics used today.

Here’s how to grow garlic at home:
You need:
- 1 head of garlic
- potting soil
- 1 container
Instructions:
Use a good head of garlic. For best results use organic garlic and if it has already started to sprout even better.
Take a large pot and fill it with potting soil. Separate the pods and place each pod upright at a depth of 2.5 cm. Cover the pods with 2.5 cm of potting soil.
Keep the pot in a place exposed to the sun.
Water when the soil begins to dry out, like any houseplant.
Cut the stems when they are about 10 cm tall, leaving 3 cm for regrowth. At some point, the stems will stop growing.
When they are dry and golden, dig up the cloves and each one should have formed a full head of garlic. Take a clove from this head and start the process again.
When to plant garlic
In the fall, plant garlic cloves in well-drained soil after the first frost while the soil is cool. Garlic cloves can also be planted in late winter as soon as the ground thaws, but garlic planted in the fall produces larger, better-quality bulbs.
