Orchid Care

Orchids  are flowers that need specific care to develop and grow new roots and leaves. Water is essential for the  growth and development of an orchid plant . Being tropical plants, they require a good dose of light and humidity.

Some plant varieties know how to adapt well to different climatic conditions. Regarding lighting, it must be said that although they require a lot of light, they should never be exposed to direct sunlight.

Water is necessary for all types of plants, as it allows their vital functions. In the case of orchids, it must be taken into account that it must be administered in the correct dosage and frequency. The  substrate of an orchid  should always be moist. Never overwater to avoid creating  stagnant water and rotting the roots of the plant .

Beautiful orchids can be grown naturally, using specific fertilizers and specific care.  To obtain beautiful flowers and always have healthy orchids, you can implement some simple procedures.

Orchids in bloom

The orchid  usually blooms once a year, but due to its elegant buds it lasts a long time. In general, it can be said that the  flowering of the orchid  is linked to several factors. To promote the flowering of this beautiful tropical plant, the ideal temperature to keep it is between 20 and 25 degrees.

An orchid needs many hours of light, best if it is filtered through a curtain in the house. Depending on the  orchid species , it is therefore important to ensure the right amount of light, humidity and fertilizer.

There are some types of orchids, such as the well-known  Phalaenopsis or butterfly orchid , whose flowers last three to five months. After flowering, to give birth to new shoots and new flowers, simply cut off dry branches and stems in places where the nodes are empty.

Procedure to increase branches and seedlings.

The first thing to do to have  orchids always blooming , with seedlings and branches, is to take a clove of garlic and cut it into small pieces.  The chopped garlic  should be placed in a glass container with approximately 300 ml of water. After closing the container with a lid, the garlic should be soaked for about 4 hours.

In the meantime, you need to take an egg, pierce a small hole in one end, empty it and make another hole on the opposite side. The  empty eggshell  should be washed well with water. At this point, just take an  orchid branch  and make a diagonal cut at one end to facilitate water absorption.

After filtering the water with garlic, the latter must be transferred to a glass container. The  stem  of the orchid should be immersed in filtered water with garlic for about twenty minutes. After this time, the branch must be cleaned with cotton. Then you should take a little musk, which should be moistened with garlic water and then squeezed.  After filling the eggshell with moss, simply insert the orchid branch.

To complete, you need to take a plastic bottle, cut off the neck of the bottle to make another container. After placing the neck of the bottle on the bottom of the plastic container, the  eggshell with the orchid should be placed in it. After adding water, close the container with the orchid stem in the shell.

After four weeks, you can proceed with the water change, and after about two months you will get new leaves and healthy roots. The  new orchid seedling  can finally be transferred to a transparent pot with soil.
