Propagate cucumbers to infinity: the expert method.

There are several ways  to propagate cucumbers endlessly , but one in particular is the one used by experts. Ideal for those who want to have a garden full of crops and delicious cucumbers, which are good for you and hydrate during the hot summer. The first suggested method is the following:

Sowing cucumbers

Sowing seeds is probably the  most common method of propagating cucumbers . Direct sowing in the garden can be fairly easy, but cucumbers need warm temperatures to germinate and the seeds can take up to several weeks to emerge.

The best time to plant cucumbers is in the spring or early summer months, when soil temperatures are  warm enough . Before planting, be sure to prepare the soil by adding organic matter such as manure or compost.

You can carry out sowing by placing them in rows  15-20 cm apart , with a depth of approximately 2-3 cm. Once the seeds are planted, cover them well with soil and gently water them.

Propagation from cuttings

Cuttings are another popular way to propagate cucumbers. This method is more commonly used in domestic environments or in small crops and allows for stronger and more  vigorous plants than sowing.

You can take cuttings from the mother cucumber by cutting a side stem or yellow shoot from the  growing point of the axis . Be sure to cut a healthy branch at least 10 cm long.

After cutting,  remove the leaves  from the base, leaving only 2-3 of them on top. Put the cutting in a glass of water for about a week, until roots begin to appear.

Once the  roots have grown , it is time to transplant the cuttings into the ground. If possible, choose a well-lit area, protecting young plants from direct sun for the first few days.

Be sure to prepare the soil well as described above, then make small holes in  the soil  where you can insert the cuttings. Gently insert the cutting into the hole and cover it with soil. Water abundantly.

Subsequently, to promote the growth of young plants, avoid watering too frequently and do not allow the soil  to dry out completely.
