If you have expired yeast, don’t throw it away: it can be a valuable help for your plants.

Yeast is an ingredient at the base of many culinary preparations, so it is very common to have it at home.

However, it may happen that you forget it or do not check its  expiration date . After the expiration date, yeast is obviously unusable in the kitchen, but it can be a great help in the garden.

So avoid throwing it away, and let’s see how it can be used for  plants .

1. Liquid fertilizer: Yeast can be the base of an excellent  fertilizer  for your plants. It will be enough to simply dissolve one and a half teaspoons in 2-3 liters of water and wet the plants with the solution obtained.
2. Solid Fertilizer:  If you prefer a solid version, all you have to do is freeze the yeast water solution in the handy ice cutters. Once solidified, your fertilizer cubes are ready: simply apply them to the soil and let them melt.
3. Anti-mosquitoes : if you want to keep these annoying insects away from your garden, you can make a yeast-based anti-mosquito solution: combine 250 ml of hot water, a teaspoon of yeast and 2 teaspoons of sugar in a container. Place the bottle on the affected area and leave it for a few days.
4. Ants : If you notice that your plants are usually surrounded by ants, you can make a powder that eliminates them completely naturally: combine sugar, baking soda and brewer’s yeast (with a proportion of one third for each ingredient). Spread the dust on window sills or around flower pots to keep ants away from your plants.
