What to do for plants in spring: useful tips to follow

Spring begins: take care of your plants to prepare them for this wonderful season.

Spring , you know, is the season of most intense activity for plants and flowers.

In this period, therefore, it is good to concentrate all our energies on their care to  prepare them  in the best possible way.

Let’s see what  actions  it is advisable to take this season.

  1. Light:  with the arrival of beautiful days it is important to let as much light as possible into the house so that our plants can also enjoy it. Place them next to a window and open them for several hours a day.
  2. Cleaning:  always in the case of indoor plants, dust the leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust or other accumulated dirt.
  3. Pruning:  that is, removing dry leaves and branches from plants, or other parts ruined by the winter cold. This applies to both indoor and garden plants. Also be sure to use proper scissors so you make clean, precise cuts.
  4. Potting and planting:  If you want to enjoy the flowering of bulbous plants, this is the ideal season for potting. In addition, many aromatic herbs such as basil and parsley can also be planted during this period.
  5. Fertilize:  to have healthy and lush flowers and plants, it is advisable to provide them with all the nutrients they need. To do this, use natural liquid fertilizers once a week.
  6. Bring the plants back outside: to protect some  plants from  frost, in winter it is advisable to put them inside so that they are safe. But when the beautiful days return and the temperatures start to rise, it’s best to put them outside again so they can enjoy the sunlight.
  7. Water:  If temperatures rise, it means that water will tend to evaporate much faster. For this reason it is advisable to start increasing the frequency of irrigation.
  8. Replanting and Transplanting:  Some plants need to change the air, soil and container. Spring is the ideal season to do this.
