Poinsettia: all the secrets to care for it and make it bloom again

The steps to not let this plant wither immediately.

Here we are, the first  poinsettias  are starting to bloom. But, the moment you receive one too, you know that you won’t know how to care for it in the slightest.

Do not get off! It is a very  delicate plant , it is normal to encounter some difficulties.

But with these  tips  you can keep it healthy.

  • We call it poinsettia and yet it doesn’t like harsh climates. It is native to Central America and grows well when the  temperature  is mild.
  • In domestic environments it is good to keep the Christmas star in a controlled climate, between  20 and 25 degrees . It should be kept away from heat sources and well away from doors and windows, to avoid sudden changes in temperature.
  • Choose a sufficiently  bright spot  and do not move it, at most rotate it on itself periodically to let the light reach each side.
  • Universal soil will be more than fine, also add gardening sand to  prevent water stagnation .
  • Water  your seedling only when the soil is completely dry.
  • When it begins to  lose its leaves , cut all the stems 10 cm from the base. To stop sap leakage from branches, apply with absorbent paper or cover the cut part with charcoal dust.
  • If you plan to replant your poinsettia, be sure to do so in  May . In this period there are new signs of plant growth.
  • In  summer,  add a few drops of fertilizer to the water you use to water.

By following these rules you will be able to admire a new flowering in September.
