Imagine one evening at dinner… And you didn’t buy bread! To your rescue come these so-called “Turkish” buns, which do not need leavening or complicated doughs to be kneaded. In a few minutes, mix the ingredients and put them in the oven, voila, in no time at all you will have tasty buns that are soft inside and crispy outside, which can be kept even for a few days, in the right conditions.

The ingredients are simple, probably all already present at home, flourmilkwateroil and baking powder, and the processing is so simple that it is possible even without much previous experience in terms of dough and homemade bread. With these sandwiches you can solve an evening, make up for an oversight, but at the same time feel the pride of having made bread.

Preparation time: 20 minutes Cooking time: 25 minutes Total time: 45 minutes
Servings: 8 small
rolls Calories: 160 per sandwich

Ingredients

  • 100 ml water
  • 120 ml milk
  • 30 ml oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 10 grams of baking powder (without vanilla)
  • 300 grams of flour

Procedure

  1. Since there is no need for leavening, preheat the oven to 190°C immediately, so that it heats up sufficiently.
  2. In a large bowl, pour all the liquids, plus salt, sugar and baking powder.
  3. Mix the ingredients together carefully, then add the flour a little at a time, stirring constantly.
  4. When the dough becomes firm, pass it on a floured work surface.
  5. Continue kneading to reach a homogeneous consistency.
  6. Make a roll, and cut it into equal pieces, about 4 cm long.
  7. With each piece, first make a ball, continue to work it for a few moments, then compact and flatten, obtaining a circle.
  8. Roll each circle on itself, to form a cylinder, make the edges adhere well and to finish, make a longitudinal cut on the surface with a sharp knife.
  9. Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20/25 minutes in a preheated oven. Remove and let cool, then serve the buns warm or cold.

You can fill your sandwiches with whatever you want, a lean cold cut with vegetables, tuna and salad… Or you can accompany your main courses. Enjoy your meal!
