Cyclamen is a very  popular  plant  in gardening, especially in winter, as many of its species flower during the colder months. It is not a particularly demanding plant in terms of care, but with proper care  it can bloom for up to 4 months.

Temperature and light

Since cyclamen is a plant, as we have already said, of cool or   cold climates and climates  , its  worst enemy is usually excess sun and heat.  If you plant your cyclamen in the garden, do so in an area that  does not receive direct sunlight,  but has  good lighting  . If, on the other hand, you have it in an indoor vase, place it  in a room with lots of natural light,  but always where the sun’s rays do not shine directly on it. If possible,  find a space or room where the temperature is as cool as possible. , away from heat sources, since if the temperature exceeds 16 degrees, it is very likely that the cyclamen will lose their flowers. The plant can also be placed in a  well-ventilated place  .

Irrigation

Watering cyclamen  requires some basic guidelines to avoid damaging the plant.  It is highly discouraged to water it from above  , since the flowers and leaves could be attacked by fungi due to humidity. Likewise, since it is a bulb, it is not advisable for the bulb itself to come into contact with water.

Therefore  , capillary or immersion irrigation is recommended  for cyclamen. This method consists of  placing the base of the pot on a plate  or container  of water for about fifteen minutes  , letting the plant absorb the water it needs, and then placing it back on another plate. This must be repeated when we notice that the land is dry again, which can be  every week  or so, although it varies greatly depending on the conditions of the area. One last tip when watering is to always do it with  water that is not too cold  . In this way, thermal shock to the plant is avoided, which will cause it to lose its flowers sooner.

Fertilizer and pruning

You can help your cyclamen with   liquid fertilizer  , but only do it when the plant is  starting to develop flower buds.   Finally,  always prune any flowers or stems that begin to wilt  or fall.

Cyclamen Flowers Falling, How to Fix It!

If you see that  your cyclamen’s flowers are falling off  , don’t be alarmed: as long as they are dry flowers or stems, it can be normal, you can cut them.

However, if many or entire areas of the plant are affected, it is very likely that your cyclamen  is not receiving adequate care  in one of the points listed above. The most common is  overwatering  , which causes parts of the plant to become too wet and rot.

Last but not least, it should also be mentioned that the  tuber or bulb of the cyclamen is poisonous  to humans and most pets. There is nothing wrong with being in contact with the plant, but if we have  small children or pets it can be dangerous.  Therefore, it is important to prevent them from eating or putting any of its parts in their mouths, especially the aforementioned tuber or bulb.
