Sansevieria is one of the most widespread and appreciated plants in the world, due to its incredible resistance and ability to adapt to any type of context that make it perfect for those who do not have time or do not have a green thumb.
However, although it is easy for the plant to survive, having a healthy sansevieria, therefore very green and capable of flowering, is a whole different story. Like all other plants, sansevieria also needs specific care to be able to show itself in its maximum splendor.
In addition to its aesthetic value, two of the lesser-known characteristics of sansevieria are its ability to purify the air in the home and to flourish. Precisely for this reason, sansevieria deserves to be taken care of: it will reward us with healthier air and fragrant flowers.
Below we list the basic treatments to maintain a healthy sansevieria and stimulate its flowering.
1. Light
Sansevieria, being extremely hardy, can survive both sun and shade.
However, it is precisely in the shade that it finds its ideal environment to grow healthy and strong. Excessive exposure to the sun’s rays could burn its leaves.
The ideal location for a sansevieria is near a window, where it can receive indirect light and the right amount of shade.
2. Water
Although sansevieria can survive the lack of water for more than 6 weeks, it is good to never leave it without water for such long periods.
Water the sansevieria once a week with the right amount of water: about 200 ml if the plant is small, up to 400 ml for larger plants.
It is important to check the humidity of the soil before watering the plant, and to pour water only if the soil is dry.
3. Fertilizer
Providing the plant with the right nutrients is very important and the best option is to do it with natural ingredients.
Water the plant with water with powdered eggshells, or water mixed with potato peels.
You can use these ingredients once a month to provide sansevieria with the nutrients it needs.
Now that you know how to take care of a sansevieria and stimulate its flowering, apply all the tips listed above: you will see that your plant will not take long to show the first results.
