Learn how to sprout and grow pistachios in pots the easy way

Having a mini pistachio tree at home is easier than it may seem, and it is possible to obtain it by following simple steps on how to germinate a pistachio plant, and how to grow it in pots to be able to grow indoors as well.

Pistachio contains many health benefits, being rich in antioxidants such as lutein and zeaxatin, which protect eyesight, but also other vitamins, such as B6, minerals, fiber and protein.

This excellent dried fruit is also very versatile and can be used in a myriad of different preparations, both sweet and savory. Pistachio is undoubtedly part of our culinary tradition, which is why having a mini tree at home can be very useful indeed.

Choose a handful of pistachios, making sure they are not roasted. Remove the tough skin and place them in a glass filled with water. Leave them to hydrate overnight in a completely dark place.

The next morning, place the pistachios on dry paper towels and cover them with more damp paper. It is important to maintain the right humidity for the plant to grow.

After about 10 days, during which you have made sure that the paper towels have remained moist at all times, you can plant the seeds in a pot deep enough to allow the roots to grow properly.

Fill the pot with potting soil, then poke holes in it and insert the pistachios. The potting soil should not completely cover the sprouted seeds.

Water and place the pot in a place where it can receive sunlight. Water frequently.
