If you have a sansevieria at home, it is very likely that it has never made flowers. This plant, known and appreciated for its incredible resistance, is one of the most difficult to make bloom, but not if the precautions we suggest below are applied.
For example, by putting the plant in the bathroom, it will absorb excess moisture and also the toxins present in many personal care products.
Below we suggest the basic care that sansevieria needs to grow healthy and strong in our homes.
1. Light
Sansevieria can withstand virtually any light condition. The optimal condition, however, is shade. Excessive sun could damage its leaves and make it less aesthetically appealing.
Place the sansevieria near a window, exposed to indirect light.
2. Water
Water sansevieria once a week, but don’t overdo it. Check the moisture of the soil before watering and only put water if it’s dry.
Sansevieria resists periods of drought, but its aesthetic appearance suffers.
3. Fertilizers
You don’t need to fertilize sansevieria, but if you want to do so, you can use eggshells (rich in calcium) or water with potato skins.
Fertilize once a month to ensure the sansevieria has the nutrients it needs.
