The geranium is a flower that often beautifies balconies and terraces. It is a very easy plant to grow and without special needs, which is also why it is so common.
However, to bloom at their peak, geraniums need nutrients.
So let’s see how to dose them, how often and how to provide them to enjoy the wonderful flowers they produce.
- Frequency: There are several ideal times to fertilize geraniums. One is surely when they are planted and/or decanted. In this case, natural fertilizers such as compost (in this case monthly) or liquid fertilizers (every 2-3 weeks) can be used.
- When: other ideal times are in the pre-flowering phase, that is, when the first buds begin to appear and until summer. In the autumn season, however, they can be reduced: in this period the plant does not need nutrients since it is inactive.
- As a fertilizer: among the most suitable natural fertilizers for geraniums we find, without a doubt, coffee grounds and Epsom salt, which provide the amounts of nutrients and minerals necessary for the plant grow healthy and strong.
