Phytotherapist Konstantin Milicha notes in an article that the petals of the angiosperm – four in number – are arranged in the shape of a cross, which testifies to the blessing they received from God.
People also call them yellow lingonberries, dragaika or real lingonberries, and they are harvested around the feast of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist on June 24.
Midsummer’s Eve wristbands and wreaths cannot do without a midsummer’s eve wreath.
There are two types: yellow (Galium verum) and white (Galium mollugo). Only the flowering tops are harvested, between June and September.
They are dried in a thin layer, in ventilated and shady places, and stored in paper bags for year-round use.
White angiosperm has diuretic, antirheumatic, and antispasmodic properties.
It is useful for circulatory problems, rheumatism, gout, polyarthrosis or jaundice and pleurisy.
Yellow has more diverse therapeutic properties, due to its content of antioxidant compounds, organic acids, mineral salts, and enzymes.
Here are some of the advantages:
– cleanses the blood of toxins, especially in the liver and kidneys
– stimulates sweating
– stops bleeding
– reduces inflammation
– accelerates the healing of wounds, both external and internal
– calms the nervous system
– helps with neurovegetative diseases
– stimulates appetite
