Water, electricity, temperature and more. Here’s what to pay attention to to get Spathiphyllum to bloom.
Spathiphyllum, also known as Peace Lily, is a very common and appreciated houseplant, known above all for its characteristic flower white.
If you want to enjoy these magnificent flowers there are some things that you should know about it.
Let’s see which ones.
- Period: Spathiphyllum normally blooms twice a year; in early spring and early autumn. Obviously this aspect can change depending on the variety of the plant.
- Age of the plant: the flowering Spathiphyllum is normally a mature plant (from 12 months), in the middle of its development. Plants that are too young do not yet have all the elements necessary to produce flowers.
- Light: As with all plants, for Spathiphyllum too, light is one of the most important factors for its well-being and therefore for flowering. Spathiphyllum, in particular, loves indirect light so it can be kept indoors not too far from a large window.
- Nutrients: If not fed well, the Spathiphyllum plant will certainly have difficulties in the flowering phase. For this purpose, therefore, it is advisable to supplement with organic fertilizers, regularly and periodically.
- Temperature: Spathiphyllum is a plant also known for its ability to withstand heat. Its ideal temperature can also reach a maximum of 24 degrees.
- Water: very little or abundant watering can cause discomfort to the plant. The best way to know when to give your Spathiphyllum water is to feel the soil and make sure it is moist a few inches below the surface.
- Replanting: very often even the soil that houses the plant can play an important factor. If you haven’t done it yet, or haven’t done it for a long time, try repotting it with new soil.
