Is it possible to grow an orchid without roots? Here is the method to follow to revive it and make it bloom again. You should definitely not throw it away.

The orchid is a plant that does not require much care and for which it is often found in homes as an ornamental plant. Certainly, however, certain precautions must be taken otherwise our orchid will die and it will not be easy to recover it again. To do this, commit to following the little secrets you need to have a healthy and blooming orchid.

First of all, position, temperature and sun exposure are very important. It is therefore advisable to place the orchid in a place in the house where there are no drafts and where there are no radiators. Then a temperature of around 20°C is recommended and finally non-direct sunlight.

Then irrigation is also very important, the plant should always be moist, not dry and not full of water. If these small steps are not followed, the plant can have consequences, flowers that fall off, leaves that turn yellow and rotten roots that must be cut irreparably. We will see the latter case, that is, growing an orchid without roots.

Here’s what you should do when you have a rootless orchid

When you have an orchid with rotten roots, it’s better to cut them down than to keep them there. For this, the first thing to do is to remove the orchid from the pot and cut off all the rotten roots with scissors. If you need to remove all of them, don’t worry and do it. There is actually a way to regrow completely healthy roots and now we are going to see it.

Once you have completely cut your roots, also remove any branches and cut the base where the roots cling well. At this point, you can pour turmeric or cinnamon over it to disinfect the area and prevent it from molding.

The more you will go to do the procedure than is usually done. Usually the roots are poured into water, but this time we are going to pour the leaves into water. All you have to do is take a glass, absolutely transparent because the light has to pass through, and insert the leaves inside with about 4 or 5 centimeters of water. In order not to let the root fall off, simply help yourself with a toothpick.

At this point, all you have to do is wait. In the first 15 days, you will see very small bumps and so this means that the method is working. You will start to see roots of a few centimeters within 3 to 4 months. Always remember to add water when it ends up in the glass.

When the roots reach about 6 inches long, it’s time to repot your orchid. This orchid will have a hard time clinging to the ground so we will use more products to plant it: clay pellets, pine bark and moss to speed up rooting.

We always take a plastic cup and make incisions on the bottom as if it were a vase. We add clay balls to the bottom that will help with drainage, and then woo the pine and moss. Water the moss thoroughly with spray and add the orchid. Finally, add more pine bark. Here is your orchid reborn.
