To revive a damaged or failing orchid, try this simple trick that has been proven to work without disappointment.
You do not need to invest in expensive special fertilizers; instead, use sugar. A lady explained to me that for orchids, sugar is like an antibiotic for humans.
This remedy is effective on:
- Wilted plants
- Accidentally damaged plants
- Plants that have not flowered for a long time
- Old plants that lack energy
Here is how to proceed:
- Prepare a sugar solution by dissolving a teaspoon of sugar in a liter of water.
- Immerse the orchid in the solution, leaving it to soak for 8-9 hours or even for the whole day.
- After the sugar bath, immerse the orchid in stagnant water for an hour.
- Return the orchid to its usual spot.
You will notice that the leaves will be fuller and the flowers will lift. The next day, the orchid will be visibly improved.
This treatment has even brought orchids that seemed destined for the wastebasket back to life. My sister’s violet has even produced more buds since we started this method.
Don’t forget to try this remedy if you have an orchid that needs a boost. And if you like the idea of using sugar for other plants, here are some other tricks:
- Add a teaspoon of sugar to the water for most flowering houseplants, stimulating them and charging them with energy.
- To prevent a caterpillar invasion in your garden, sprinkle sugar on the soil to create an environment hostile to pests.
- Add sugar and vinegar when watering to provide extra nutrition to the plants and keep them fresh longer.
Sugar can also be used to clean dirty hands and to create an effective mosquito trap both inside and outside the home. Just follow the instructions and you will see the results.
