The orchid is a perennial floriferous plant appreciated for its spectacular flowering and colorful flowers, which are used to decorate interior spaces. There are several varieties of orchids. Some are very common, such as the phalaenopsis orchid, also known as the butterfly orchid. Although this plant is easy to grow, it needs certain specific conditions to flourish. That being said, find out where you need to place your orchid to encourage it to bloom.
Where should an orchid be placed to encourage its flowering?
To install your orchid in the right place, two parameters must be taken into account: light and humidity.

- Choose a bright place for the orchid.
The orchid is a flowering plant that likes light. That being said, avoid placing your plant in a dark place. This will prevent your orchid from blooming. Also avoid keeping your plant in an area exposed to drafts, such as near the front door. These openings can cool your orchid, which also cannot withstand sudden changes in temperature. Even regularly ventilated rooms should be avoided. The orchid appreciates warm places and appreciates a temperature between 20°C and 30°C in the morning, and between 18°C and 25°C at night. This floriferous plant certainly appreciates light, but it should not be exposed to direct sunlight, which risks burning its foliage. You can place your orchid in a room with white painted walls that allow light to reflect. When you install your pot, make sure that the flowers do not touch the glass or the wall. Flowers should not even be in contact with the foliage of other plants. This way you will make your plant bloom for longer. Also avoid turning the pot, to keep the flowers in the same orientation that allows them to receive light.

In summer, it is advisable to place the orchid behind a window facing east or west. If your house faces south, it is advisable to shade the windows to prevent the sun from burning the foliage of your plant.
In winter, it is less obvious to find the right location for your orchid, due to the lack of light. That is why it is advisable to install your plant near a south-facing window, without placing a curtain, since in winter it is likely that your orchid will not be attacked by the sun’s rays.
- Choose a humid location for the orchid.
In addition to light, humidity is also a factor to take into account when setting up your plant. In fact, orchids are tropical plants that appreciate humidity. That said, your plant will do best in a well-lit bathroom or a well-lit kitchen. These are the two wettest rooms in the house. In addition, the orchid will help you at the same time reduce the humidity in these rooms, to avoid mold. In winter, avoid keeping the orchid near the heater or fireplace, which can dry out the ambient air. To increase the humidity level, you can place your orchid pot on a plate containing moist clay balls, or simply water that evaporates from the plate and improves the humidity rate, ensuring more comfort for your plant. Please note that it is not recommended to soak your orchid in water, as this can cause its roots to rot.
By choosing the right location for your orchid, you will make your plant last a long time and encourage colorful and abundant blooms.
