The lemon tree (citrus limon) is an Indian evergreen tree, grown mainly in Sicily. Sensitive to cold and wind, it is necessary in our regions to grow it especially in pots, to protect it from cold winds and frosts.

How to Grow Lemon

The best time to plant lemon, or put it in pots, is in early spring, when temperatures begin to stabilize. The soil must be soft and porous, resistant to stagnation, also because it will be watered often. At the bottom of the pot, it is advisable to put a few centimetres of expanded clay, to absorb water and prevent rot.

Repotting

Repotting the lemon should be done every 2 years and placed in a larger container. If you sow, you should start from a pot with a diameter of 30 to 40 cm.

Care

Those who have started by sowing will have to wet the soil until it germinates. Only then can he add fertilizer. When the plant has reached 20 cm, it can be repotted in a larger container.
