Yeast, used in cooking not only to leaven
Yeast is an essential ingredient in cooking, both to leaven our doughs and to give flavor and texture to many vegetarian dishes.

It is a single-celled fungus that produces carbon dioxide during fermentation. In cooking, it is mainly used to leaven bread, pizza, cakes and other baked goods. There are different types of yeast, such as brewer’s yeast and wine yeast, each of which has a specific function depending on the desired dough.
In addition to being an essential ingredient in our bread, it is also an excellent ally in the kitchen for those who follow a vegetarian diet. Commercially available flakes, for example, can be used to give a salty flavor and crunchy texture to many dishes, such as fried vegetables or vegetable meatballs.

In addition, nutritional yeast, also known as brewer’s yeast powder, is rich in proteins and B vitamins and can be used as a condiment or to prepare tasty protein drinks.
In short, it is a versatile and multifunctional ingredient that deserves to be discovered and experienced in the kitchen. Not only is it essential for our bread, but it can also add flavor and texture to many vegetarian dishes.
Today we combine this ingredient with rice to make an incredible dish. We tell you everything below. The recipe and procedure are really easy to follow.
Rice and yeast, the recipe you have to try
Did you know that by combining yeast rice you get a dish that you will hardly forget? Here are the ingredients:
- 250 g of rice
- 200 ml of water
- 200 ml of milk
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 1 sachet of yeast
- 500g flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons of oil
Wash the rice until it releases all its starch. Then, in a pot, boil it until the water is completely absorbed. In a bowl, mix it now with the water, milk and sugar.

Now add the absolute star of our recipe, the yeast, and continue mixing. In another bowl, mix the flour and salt. Now pour the rice mixture into the bowl with the flour and mix well until you obtain a homogeneous dough.
Add the oil and mix again. Transfer the dough to an oiled and floured loaf pan and let it rise for about an hour in a warm, humid place. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Brush the surface of the bread with a little milk and bake for about 4 minutes.
