In fact, like many other plants, the hydrangea does not like direct sunlight, but it thrives in light. A lovely shaded area is ideal! Hydrangeas grow well in acidic soil, that is, soil with a pH between 6.5 and 4.5. Their beautiful colors often depend on the acidity of the soil: those that tend toward pink or maroon colors prefer a high pH of 6 or even 7, while those that tend toward blue colors prefer a very acidic pH, between 4 and 5. Depending on the color of your hydrangea, try improving and changing the soil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In winter it won’t give you many problems, but in summer you will have to be careful with the heat, since this plant does not like high temperatures. If you decide to keep the plant indoors, be sure to keep it away from any heat sources in the winter as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You will need a large pot with a diameter of at least 40 cm and place expanded clay on the bottom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Then you can remove the plant from its pot. You will notice that it has thick roots. Cut the roots before putting the plant in its new pot! This stage is very important, otherwise the plant will have difficulty spreading its roots and will quickly perish. Do not place the plant too deep, but rather a few centimeters above the ground (to prevent the roots from rotting when watering).<\/p>\n\n\n\n The first watering should be abundant, then you should adjust it according to the season. In summer, to combat the heat, consider watering once a day. Of course, be careful not to water the leaves to avoid fungal diseases that could affect your plants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Regarding fertilization, it is recommended to use a liquid fertilizer, which will be added to the irrigation water at least once a week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Cultivation, on the other hand, is done by cuttings and is quite simple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Herbaceous plant cuttings can be taken with the fresh green growth of the plant (not in flower), between June and August, or they can be taken during the dormant period, which takes place between October and December. In this case, make a semi-woody cut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In summer, do the following: cut the bud at a height of about 30 cm, then cut the bud again once you have identified the first node (where the two leaves grow at the bottom); Remove these two leaves as well and gather all the others together with one hand so you can cut the top of the remaining leaves. At this stage, your sprout should look something like this and is ready to be placed in a glass with 2-3 cm of water:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Here’s a tip to help your cutting root better:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Use half an effervescent aspirin tablet! Don’t forget to change the water every two days (also replacing aspirin), for a period of at least 40 days. After a few months, you will notice some small roots developing; then it’s time to prepare a pot.
