Unfortunately, a deflowered orchid or an orchid with soft, shriveled leaves is much less decorative and visually appealing.

To remedy this, there is a trick that will bring your orchids back to life and make them bloom again. Instead of throwing away your favorite plants, you can revive them and take care of them, as Martin Davesne, a florist in Hauts-de-France, explains to us.

How to revive an orchid so that it blooms again?

To ensure that your orchids last as long as possible, it is necessary to take good care of them. These houseplants with white, yellow or even blue flowers are very sensitive to cold.

Although they don’t require much attention, these flowers sometimes wilt depending on the variety and the season. To revive your orchids, you can simply adopt this tip. This way you can save your houseplant without having to buy a new one.

Cut out the stems of your wilted orchids

To save your orchid, you must first remove all dead flowers and let your plant rest for a few days before starting the procedure.

Find your way around the base of the orchid, count two buds, then cut one of the stems one inch above the third bud and below the stem to help your orchid grow well again.

This also encourages the formation of new flowers. After a while, the first shoot with small buds should appear.

Later, after 2 to 3 months, a second bloom may occur. If you follow this tip carefully, your orchids could actually bloom for another three to five years.

Here you will find more tips to make your orchid bloom again

When growing your orchids, you need to pay attention to their care because they do not like heat and prefer a humid atmosphere.

Store your orchid in a place with a suitable temperature

After pruning your orchid with sterilized pruning shears, you should store it in a place without heat. Your flowering plant must be placed at a temperature of 15 °C (make sure that the temperature does not drop below 13 °C).

When spring comes and the frost is over, you can put it outside. The outdoor temperatures in the months of May to September will not harm your orchids.

Water your orchid with some water

Orchids require water and a constant humid atmosphere for their proper care. During the summer season, these plants need to be watered every week.

In colder temperatures, they should be watered every ten to fifteen days. It is best not to overwater an orchid as it does not tolerate excess water. Of course, if the soil is still moist, there is no need to re-moisten it.

Repot your orchid to make it bloom properly

For orchids to grow well, they need to be repotted every two to three years. If you notice roots sticking out of the pot, it’s a sign that your plant needs more space to thrive.

Otherwise, you can carry out the operation even if you notice that the roots of your orchid are moldy. This may be due to excess water. To place your flowering plant in a new pot, you must first prepare a new substrate using peat moss, pine bark and clay balls.

Then slightly moisten this solution and then remove the orchid from the pot to remove the substrate around the roots. Finally, remove the old shallow roots and keep only the roots saturated with juice.

In your new pot, place the new substrate, put all the roots in it, hold the orchid at the bottom and fill the container with substrate, making sure to put some substrate between the roots. Pack everything down well and place a stake if necessary to keep your plant in place.

If your orchid has stopped blooming, know that this is nothing to worry about, just follow the tips listed above to revive it!

Hardy, undemanding and easy to grow, orchids are very popular plants and are very popular with fans of houseplants.
