Sansevieria, also known by the scientific name  Sansevieria trifasciata<\/em> ,<\/strong>  is an easy plant to grow. It is also popularly known as tiger’s tongue, cow’s tongue, mother-in-law’s tongue, cat’s tongue, tiger’s tail and St. George’s sword. It is a  very decorative and resistant plant.<\/strong>  Sansevieria  resists very well both high and low temperatures (up to -5 \u00b0 C).<\/strong>  In addition, it is a plant that helps  clean the air inside the house.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sansevieria or mother-in-law’s tongue has this name  because of its leaves. <\/strong> This is due to the comparison of their long leaves with the long tongue (mockingly) that was attributed to  the \u201cmore talkative mothers-in-law\u201d<\/strong>  for speaking and criticizing their respective genders.<\/p>\n\n\n

Sansevieria,  also known as mother-in-law’s tongue, is one of the plants recommended by NASA<\/strong>  (National Aeronautics and Space Administration of the United States)  to eliminate toxic substances such as benzene, toluene, xylene and formaldehyde from the air that<\/strong> we breathe<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Light:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0despite being very resistant,\u00a0\u00a0it is ideal to place it in places with lots of light<\/strong>\u00a0.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Temperature:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0the ideal\u00a0\u00a0is between 15 and 20\u00baC<\/strong>\u00a0, although in summer\u00a0\u00a0it can withstand temperatures of 30\u00ba<\/strong>\u00a0. Avoid drafts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Watering:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0if you want\u00a0\u00a0to keep it vigorous<\/strong>\u00a0,\u00a0\u00a0do not water excessively and only when the soil is dry<\/strong>\u00a0. In winter it needs water\u00a0\u00a0only once or twice a month,<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0always depending on the temperature of the indoor environment.   • Flowering:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0This tropical plant generally does not bloom indoors, but if it does, small flowers will appear in late summer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
