It is also popularly known as tiger&#8217;s tongue, cow&#8217;s tongue, mother-in-law&#8217;s tongue, cat&#8217;s tongue, tiger&#8217;s tail and St. George&#8217;s sword. It is a&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>very decorative and resistant plant.<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;Sansevieria&nbsp;<strong>&nbsp;resists very well both high and low temperatures (up to -5 \u00b0 C).<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;In addition, it is a plant that helps&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>clean the air inside the house.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sansevieria or mother-in-law&#8217;s tongue has this name&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>because of its leaves.&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;This is due to the comparison of their long leaves with the long tongue (mockingly) that was attributed to&nbsp;<strong>&nbsp;the \u201cmore talkative mothers-in-law\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;for speaking and criticizing their respective genders.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/essermamma.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/iStock-1247359811-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Sansevieria\" class=\"wp-image-6647\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sansevieria,&nbsp;<strong>&nbsp;also known as mother-in-law&#8217;s tongue, is one of the plants recommended by NASA<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;(National Aeronautics and Space Administration of the United States)&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>to eliminate toxic substances such as benzene, toluene, xylene and formaldehyde from the air that<\/strong>&nbsp;we&nbsp;<strong>breathe<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Light:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0despite being very resistant,\u00a0\u00a0<strong>it is ideal to place it in places with lots of light<\/strong>\u00a0.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Temperature:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0the ideal\u00a0<strong>\u00a0is between 15 and 20\u00baC<\/strong>\u00a0, although in summer\u00a0<strong>\u00a0it can withstand temperatures of 30\u00ba<\/strong>\u00a0. Avoid drafts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Watering:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0if you want\u00a0\u00a0<strong>to keep it vigorous<\/strong>\u00a0,\u00a0\u00a0<strong>do not water excessively and only when the soil is dry<\/strong>\u00a0. In winter it needs water\u00a0\u00a0<strong>only once or twice a month,<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0always depending on the temperature of the indoor environment. Excess water can cause\u00a0<strong>\u00a0rot of the rhizome<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0(underground stem with several shoots that grow horizontally, emitting from the roots of herbaceous nodes and shoots).
