In fact, having a healthy<\/strong>, blooming, and beautiful orchid is not impossible. Just follow a series of tips<\/strong> and pay attention<\/strong> to a few details<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many, however, make mistakes<\/strong> that can compromise the beauty<\/strong> and health<\/strong> of the plant, without even realizing it and repeating for a long time the same wrong gesture or behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s see which are the most common, to avoid them and keep our orchid thriving<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wrong Vase<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The most common mistake made by those who own this wonderful plant is to store it in a dark plastic pot<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The roots<\/strong> of the orchid, in fact, grow healthier<\/strong> and stronger<\/strong> if they are directly touched <\/strong><\/strong>by light<\/strong>. That’s why it’s helpful to choose a clear vase<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Usually, the seedling is already sold in this type of pot. When not, one of the first things you should do when you bring it home is to replace<\/strong> the vase<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, by being transparent, it will be easier for you to check the condition of the roots<\/strong> and you will be able to detect any problems involving them earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Direct light<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Another very common mistake: you put the orchid<\/strong> in direct<\/strong> light <\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Direct sunlight<\/strong> is very harmful to this plant which, accustomed to tropical places, is usually covered <\/strong>by<\/strong> the shade of larger plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you put the orchid in a place where it gets direct sunlight, its <\/strong>leaves<\/strong> can be damaged<\/strong> by too much light<\/strong> and too much <\/strong>heat<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the buds<\/strong> may “burn”<\/strong> and stop flowering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the first symptoms of too much light is the change in color of the leaves<\/strong> that gradually begin to yellow.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The solution? Put this plant in a bright<\/strong> place <\/strong>, but where the light reaches indirectly. For example, on a windowsill facing north or south or with tempered glass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Low humidity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Humidity<\/strong> is critical for your orchid<\/strong> to survive: keeping it in a place where it tends to be low and the air is dry means causing it to wilt <\/strong>and die.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, if the air in your house tends to be dry all over, you can resort to a very easy trick: every 2-3 days<\/strong>, spray<\/strong> a little water<\/strong> on the foliage of your orchid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this way, the plant<\/strong> will enjoy an optimal humidity index.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inadequate fertilizer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Fertilizing without paying too much attention to the composition<\/strong> of the fertilizer<\/strong>: a very serious mistake that can cost the health of our orchid<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This plant actually needs to be fertilized with specific products that have a certain amount of nitrogen<\/strong>higher than phosphorus<\/strong> and potassium<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Balance is achieved when the 30:10:10 formula is respected , i.e. 30 parts nitrogen to 10 parts phosphorus and 10 parts potassium.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Too much water<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Just because the orchid<\/strong> needs regular<\/strong> watering doesn’t mean it needs to be watered every day!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The water needs of this plant vary depending on its life cycle<\/strong> and temperatures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the cold months, therefore in autumn<\/strong> and winter<\/strong>, watering<\/strong> should be kept to a minimum: it is enough to keep the soil slightly moist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it’s hot<\/strong>, however, water more often. There is no rule, water<\/strong> when the soil<\/strong> dries out and<\/strong> is no longer wet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Too dark environment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Just like too much light, too much darkness<\/strong> can be harmful<\/strong> to your orchid<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remember that you should never place this plant in a blind bathroom<\/strong> or anywhere else without natural light sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
