The bathtub in particular is often prone to black spots, bacteria and germs that develop over time. The cause: traces of soap or products regularly used in the bathroom, limescale, hair clogging the pipes, mold stains, etc. No wonder your bathtub sometimes looks gloomy!

This can obviously be problematic, even harmful, for our health and hygiene, as we still spend a lot of time there. The bathtub is a temple of relaxation and well-being. It is also the place where we take care of ourselves, the place where we frequently wash our bodies and our hair. Sanitary hygiene must therefore be impeccable to avoid possible skin aggressions. The solution? Just a good cleaning. It is better to take care of it regularly so that dirt or limescale residues do not become permanently encrusted.

Of course, there are special products on the market to prevent dirt from accumulating in the bathtub. However, these contain chemical components that can attack and damage the bathtub’s coatings over time. We can never prove it enough: there is nothing better than using natural and ecological products.

To make your bathtub shine, here are some simple, effective and economical tips.

You will need:

bleaching

Lemon juice

White wine vinegar

Backpulver

Ammonia

Cleaning gloves

A brush, a cloth and a sponge

Baking soda and white vinegar

Do you often notice yellowish stains or rust in certain corners of your bathtub? It’s an alarm bell that warns you of a lack of cleaning and a lack of ventilation. To eliminate these yellow stains and limescale, there is a very popular and very effective remedy: the mixture of baking soda and white vinegar. These two natural ingredients are indeed powerful cleaning agents. Limescale remover, rust remover, descaler, bleach … to take care of your bathtub, you can rely on this amazing duo!
Pour a large amount of baking soda all over the tub. Then, using a spray bottle, spray white vinegar on the parts covered with baking soda. You will notice that the two products react by forming a white foam, which is completely normal! Leave to act for about 30 minutes. Then, using a sponge or soft brush, scrub the dirty areas. Rinse the entire surface with cold water. Don’t forget to open the doors and windows to let it dry naturally. Now clean and shiny, your bathtub can finally breathe!

Ammonia

The big problem with shower walls is not dirt, but limescale that builds up over time. To identify limescale deposits, you will notice white or dull spots that do not go away. This also includes the tiles, the shower faucet and the bathtub.

To remove these limescale stains, opt for ammonia. Also very popular for home care, it is an excellent cleaner and disinfectant that will rid you of all encrusted stains and yellowed tooth enamel.

Put 2 glasses of ammonia and 2 cups of hot water in a spray bottle. Shake it and spray it on all the limescale-covered parts. Then let the product work for 5 to 10 minutes before rubbing it off with a cloth or sponge. Finally, rinse thoroughly with cold water. Again, make sure that the window and door are open to eliminate the rather strong ammonia smell.

Salt and white vinegar

If your bathtub is full of limescale , we recommend the precious mixture of white vinegar with salt. The fusion of the two will perfectly help to clean the calcified areas of the bathtub. Coarse salt is well known to our grandmothers as a cleaning, disinfectant and degreasing agent. The same goes for lemon: this citrus fruit has surprising benefits to shine and descale the different areas of the house. Not to mention that it also eliminates bad mold odors and lets a fresh and fragrant scent escape into the room.

Pour two cups of white vinegar, one cup of hot water and the lemon juice into a spray bottle. Also add 3 tablespoons of salt and mix the ingredients. With this homemade cleaner you can remove limescale permanently. Simply pour it on the tub and use a brush to scrub.
For even more efficiency, bet on hydrogen peroxide, which is also powerful in cleaning and descaling. With it you can remove limestone and yellow stains from the bathtub. Simply spray and leave for 30 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water. You don’t even have to scrub to get a shiny result!

hydrochloric acid

To get rid of all the dirt, you can rely on hydrochloric acid. This colorless watery liquid is known for descaling and disinfecting plumbing. But beware, as it is a caustic product with a very strong smell, it must be used with great caution. It is better not to apply it as a last resort if your bathtub is really very dirty. Don’t forget to dilute it with water before applying, wear gloves and a mask and, above all, ventilate the bathroom!

Preparation

Pour 1 glass of cold water and 2 drops of hydrochloric acid into a plastic glass and stir well.

Apply the mixture with a brush or paintbrush to the dirtiest areas of the tub and let it sit for a few minutes.

Then scrub with a cleaning brush and rinse thoroughly with cold water.

bleaching

If your bathtub has visible black spots in the corners and on the faucet, you must clean them very quickly because they are mold spots that can be harmful to your health! In this case, bleach is the best disinfectant to completely eliminate these molds. A flagship product in the household universe that you surely already have or that you will easily find in any supermarket.

Preparation

In a bowl, dilute 20 ml of bleach with 1 liter of cold water. Shake the mixture and spray it on the blackened areas of the bathtub, especially between the joints of the tiles. Leave it for about 5-10 minutes, then scrub with an old toothbrush or sponge. Finally, rinse with plenty of warm water. If used correctly, all stains will disappear in no time.

The soap

Using the methods above, your bathtub will be as clean and shiny as the first day. However, remember that this is a deep clean and should not be done daily. To keep it clean at all times, the best thing to do is to clean it thoroughly with soap, water and a little white vinegar.

Thanks to all these cleaning tips, your bathroom and bathtub will now be cleaner and shinier!

Cleaning the house always requires extra effort, especially when dirt and germs accumulate in the various elements and appliances.
