There is a procedure that allows you to get abundant flowers and roots from the orchid if you apply it once a month. What is it? The  procedure affects the aerial roots of the orchid<\/strong>  , which must be treated in the same way as those in the pot. Let’s find out what you can do to have abundant roots and flowers!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because the orchid forms aerial roots<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The aerial roots produced by orchids  are a completely normal process for these plants<\/strong>  , as they inherit this trait from genetic factors of the species from which they descend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These roots have the function of absorbing water and nutrients, anchoring the plant even more firmly to the ground and contributing<\/strong> , albeit minimally,  to photosynthesis  . This behavior does not change when the plant is in a pot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The roots of the orchid seek water and support from several sources to  ensure their survival<\/strong>  . Let’s say they behave this way instinctively and naturally and it is good if the orchid stops producing roots because it feeds on the aerial roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is generally because the soil is not suitable for orchid growth and therefore root production is concentrated outside the pot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What to do with the aerial roots of orchids?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The aerial roots of the orchid should not be cut, but it is best to moisten them to encourage growth. To prevent them from falling to the ground, it is recommended to  place the pot in a larger pot<\/strong>  so that it is higher and place the aerial roots in a plastic glass with water. When the water is absorbed, fill the glass to give them the necessary nourishment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As mentioned above, the roots of orchids that protrude from the pot should never be cut unless they are dry and dead. These roots add charm to the plant and are a sign of its good health. If the orchid has aerial  roots outside the pot, it is very likely<\/strong>  that it has not suffered from waterlogging, so it is definitely healthy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avoid potting the aerial roots as there is a risk that they will not adapt to the bark and therefore could die. Another trick is to  spray water over the aerial roots<\/strong>  to keep the plant hydrated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When should orchid aerial roots be repotted?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you don’t want to see these roots outside the plant, then repot it but don’t cut them off. However, you need to get  the orchid’s aerial roots used to <\/strong>higher humidity<\/strong> in the soil  before repotting   . Here’s how to do it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Wait for the right time to repot the orchid.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Spray water on the aerial roots in the 2 weeks before repotting;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Be careful not to wet the stem and leaves;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Spray water twice a day and then increase to 4-5 times.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    This allows the roots to get used to the  higher humidity and to take root well in the substrate<\/strong>  .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Get more orchids from aerial roots<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    You can also get other orchids from aerial roots. If there are too many and they are healthy, cut the orchid from the stem part with sharp scissors and  separate it from the root<\/strong>  . Plant the aerial roots in a separate pot and add a spoonful of ground cinnamon, making sure to get it into the cut part to disinfect it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Now place some clay balls to plant the other orchid, place it in the pot and add the soil. Leave it  to soak in hydrogen peroxide for half an hour  <\/strong>so that the roots soften.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Place pine wood and moss on top to nourish the plant and\u00a0\u00a0allow it to grow and develop optimally<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0. You will see that your orchids grow luxuriantly and produce many beautiful flowers, and in abundance!
