Mealybugs are among the most common and difficult insects to get rid of  . <\/strong> When they attack our plants, it really seems impossible to get rid of them and can even cause the death of our favorite plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are several  types of mealybugs<\/strong>  , and almost all of them look similar to each other. Below we list the most common types of scale insects and what types of plants they usually attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mealybug<\/strong>  . Also called citrus cotton, its scientific name is Planococcus citri and it is one of the most widespread. It is immediately recognizable by its white color and cotton-like consistency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

root mealybug<\/strong>  . Unlike the citrus cotonello, this variety attacks the roots of the plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cochineal low in citrus<\/strong>  . It mainly attacks indoor plants and fruit trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Detecting mealybugs in time is very important, as it allows us to detect the problem in time and take appropriate measures to solve it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mealybugs usually develop and reproduce at high speed, so it is important to frequently check the internal parts of the stems and leaves of our plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mealybugs are easy to spot with the naked eye, but general wilting of leaves can also be a symptom of the presence of mealybugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three effective methods against mealybugs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

There are many effective methods to eliminate mealybugs from our plants, both ornamental plants and those on the balcony or garden. Below we list 3 completely natural methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Treatments against cochineal<\/strong>  . One of the most effective is to mix neem oil with potassium soap. This treatment is very effective, as potassium soap helps keep the neem in the water longer, and neem is a powerful insecticide. The treatment can be done either by irrigation or with the use of a bottle with a spray diffuser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prepare a DIY insecticide against mealybugs<\/strong>  . For most types of mealybugs, you can use a homemade insecticide. Ingredients: 5 cloves of garlic, 250 ml of alcohol, 250 ml of water, a little biodegradable liquid soap, a bottle with a spray diffuser. Grind and mince the garlic well and mix it with the other ingredients in a spray bottle. Spray the natural insecticide on both the plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diatomaceous earth against mealybugs<\/strong>  . Sprinkle this product, which is a white powder extracted from seaweed fossils, directly on the soil.
