Although they are wonderful, orchids need very special care.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Orchids are among the most loved and appreciated plants, but they are very delicate and difficult to handle. If you have an orchid at home and its&nbsp;<strong>leaves are yellowed<\/strong>&nbsp;, apply one of the 4 tricks we suggest below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The normal aging process of the plant is the main cause of the&nbsp;<strong>yellowing of its leaves<\/strong>&nbsp;. It is a completely normal process: the plant is about to discard the mature leaf to produce a new one.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/go.ezodn.com\/utilcave_com\/ezoicbwa.png\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The problem is when the leaves that turn yellow are those found in the&nbsp;<strong>top of the plant<\/strong>&nbsp;. This phenomenon can be caused by many different reasons, all with a specific solution. Identifying the problem (water shortage, infection or lack of nutrients) is key to solving it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Falling and yellowing of the leaves of an orchid.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Orchid leaf drop can occur due to the aging of the plant, but if new ones do not grow, the cause is likely overwatering or exposure to sunlight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Place the plant in a cool, shady location, and make sure your orchid has good drainage to prevent moisture buildup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Yellowing of leaves due to diseases<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Orchids are also prone to viruses, fungi and bacterial diseases. Some of them cause light or dark spots on the leaves, others cause them to turn yellow or brown. Unfortunately, there is no cure for orchid viruses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Try to act in time, removing the orchid affected by the virus from the others and getting rid of the diseased plant as soon as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Yellowing leaves that stop plant growth<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After flowering, orchids enter a resting phase, but they likely will not grow if the light they receive is not adequate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Keep the soil moist, but not soggy. Apply a specific fertilizer every 15 days so that it can absorb all the nutrients it needs. Remember that healthy orchids can bloom every 3-6 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Yellow leaves due to insects<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If, in addition to being yellow, the leaves appear chewed or pitted, or there is a white powder beneath their surface, it is likely that they have been attacked by an insect or fungus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apply some neem oil if it is a mild problem, but if the infection is severe, you will need to use hydrogen peroxide or isopropyl alcohol.
